The quality of the works exhibited, and the variety of collectors that attend, have made the event a highlight on the art market calendar. ST-ART has a reputation for being a place to start and stepping stone. For many galleries, artists, or collections, Strasbourg may be the beginning of big things. The contemporary art fair, located just a few steps from the European Parliament's headquarters, is held in a rich cultural region, which includes the HEAR (Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin), FRAC (based at Selestat), as well as the Apollonia European Art Centre, flourishing in the heartland of Europe. The ST-ART fair, an observatory of trends and a new venue for the START fair, is hosted by the new Strasbourg Exhibition Centre.
